A Pittsburgh original is making a visit home this summer.
The people behind the Klondike Bar (invented by Pittsburgh-based retail chain Isaly’s) are bringing the “What Would You Do for a Klondike” challenge to Market Square in July.
The Klondike team will be joined by actor/comedian Joel McHale will be between 4th and 5th Avenue on July 9 from 1:30 to p.m. handing out free ice cream during the promotion.
The team will be visiting two other cities, Austin, Texas and New York City.
Anybody can compete in the “What Would You Do” competition.
A photo or video needs to be posted with at least four people with the hashtag #WWYDHometownContest, along with tagging and following @KlondikeBar to enter.
The photo or video should be creative and “out of the box” and show by their hometown should be considered the best.
McHale along with the Klondike team will be judging and picking a winner.
The winning person and city will get an “exclusive block part AND will be featured on Limited-Edition Klondike Bar packaging.”
"You know what Klondike and I have in common? We're both challengers at heart and we both love to celebrate fun, spontaneous acts of silliness," said Joel McHale. "So, when Klondike told me they were challenging hometowns to prove who's #1," he continued, "I couldn't wait to get involved and am excited to see what people all over the country will do for a Klondike. I've been a longtime fan of the brand and now, I get to judge the Klondike Hometown Contest! How sweet is that?!"
