This week, I'm talking to a woman who saw a need to get out and get folks to vote! She saw an empty space in the African American community where the trust for today's elections meant nothing but deceit, manipulation and neglect.
Maryn Formley founded VEEEM Pittsburgh (the Voter Empowerment, Education, Enrichment Movement) to help educate those who held onto the misconceptions of voting by hosting community panel discussions, voter empowerment events and helping those who needed to get registered to vote. Even providing rides to the polling sites on election day!
Maryn's passion to help those in her community has been something she takes very seriously as the founder of VEEEM, a member of her sorority and in her church.
I'm proud to say she's my sorority sister and I know first hand about her dedication and the outstanding work VEEEM is doing.
The primary election is around the corner. Not only is the Mayor's seat up for grabs, there are other posts available and VEEEM makes sure you know about those as well. "All elections matter", she says.
