Tammy Thompson is a big name in the African American community. She knows from personal experience about living in poverty in underserved communities.
Her experiences prepared her for the challenges of today as our community continues to struggle with poverty, unemployment, racial injustice, lack of trust and support, and more.
Though she's worked with many outlets in outreach, Thompson wanted to do more. So she founded the Catapult of Greater Pittsburgh.
It's a non profit organization that provides the resources in the areas previously mentioned to help all those in need. Financial literacy is another resource the organization offers because Tammy felt the community lacks the knowledge on investing, saving, and spending.
Tammy and I discuss Catapult in our sit down as well as the new programs she introduced to the East Liberty, Hill District, and Homewood communities.
