Winter Weather Advisory issued for areas north of Pittsburgh

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for counties north of Pittsburgh.

Butler and Armstrong Counties, along with the higher elevations in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties are under the Advisory from 1 p.m. Saturday through 1 a.m. Sunday.

Freezing rain is expected and could accumulate one to two tenths of an inch. Up to an inch of snow could also fall as well.

In Pittsburgh and the surrounding metro area, NWS tells KDKA Radio rain is mainly expected to fall beginning mid-morning and could last through the day.

There is also the chance of some snow, but nothing that will cause any issues on the roads.

A high around 39 is forecast for Saturday with a low right around freezing.
