As the school year is wrapping up, state health leaders are advising parents about COVID vaccines for their children.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health says they're still following CDC guidelines when it comes to kids.
The department is encouraging families to consider vaccinating their kids 13 and older, but for kids 12 and younger not yet eligible for the vaccine masks and social distancing are still recommended.
State health officials say kids not yet vaccinated who can't wear a mask should stick to low-risk activities this summer, like playing outside or attending a small gathering with fully vaccinated adults.
Pfizer announced Tuesday they're progressing in their vaccine trials for kids ages 5 to 11. In those trials, they're receiving a smaller dose.
