PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A 12-year-old boy has been arrested a second time for stealing cars in Oakland County, after authorities say he apparently did not learn his lesson the first time.

The 12-year-old Pontiac resident, along with 13-year-old alleged accomplice, are accused of stealing three Chevy Silverado pickup trucks from a Waterford lawncare business over the weekend, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Two of the vehicles had trailers attached, which were also stolen. The stolen vehicles and trailers, valued at a total of $90,000, were recovered.

A month ago, the same 12-year-old boy was arrested on charges in the theft of seven vehicles from a Pontiac business.

According to investigators, the 12-year-old sold at least one of the stolen vehicles for $30,

In a statement, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the boy was attempting to "live his very own Grand Theft Auto"— referring to the popular video game franchise.

“This young man is on a very bad path," Bouchard said. “Hopefully intervention by the courts will send him on a better life path as well as stopping the constant thefts from these businesses.”

The second suspect, age 13, was taken into custody after his mother saw a video of the Waterford break-in on Facebook, recognized her son was in the video, and called police. He is charged with unlawfully driving away an automobile and malicious destruction of property.

Both boys are being held in Oakland County Children's Village.
