I don’t think that’s what they meant by surround sound. A naked man was rescued from inside the walls at a movie theater in Syracuse on Friday, according to local authorities.
The 39-year-old man was rescued from inside the walls of the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse on Friday, according to the Syracuse Fire Department.
Workers called 911 at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday after employees at the theatre reported hearing someone banging on the walls and yelling for help.
Once the firefighters arrived, they “drilled a hole in the wall and utilized a fiber-optic camera to determine his exact location and how to best extricate him,” the department said in its release.
After locating him, the firefighters were able to free him by carefully cutting through several layers of drywall and structural clay tile.
It is not known how exactly the man got into the area behind the wall, but it is believed that he entered the theatre 2-3 days ago, the statement said.
The theatre’s executive director, Mike Intaglietta, shared with Syracuse.com that employees saw the man wandering around the theater earlier in the week. After losing sight of him, they thought he had left.
“I don’t know if he was entering to keep warm or to use the bathroom. I don’t know,” Intaglietta said about the naked man to Syracuse.com.
The Syracuse Fire Department shared that the man was treated and transported to Upstate University Hospital and that his condition is currently unknown.
