The moment a Tesla Cybertruck got stuck in the snow has gone viral on social media as the highly coveted vehicle was saved by the old reliable: a Ford pickup.

The video was posted last Monday on Instagram but quickly made its way to X, the company owned by Tesla CEO and founder Elon Musk.

In the video, the electric truck can be seen stuck off-roading in a snowy field with a Christmas tree in the back. While being towed out, the truck’s tires continued to spin while being pulled out and onto the road.

“No clue how he was so far off trail,” the original post said. “Credit to my buddies who went there Sunday and happened to be the ones who rescued him.”

The person who posted the video, Matt Chambers, added that the incident occurred in Bear Valley, California, at an off-roading site on Corral Hollow Trail.

While the Cybertruck has been marketed as a pickup that can do just about anything, even stop a bullet, many were quick to make jokes online.

“That’s not even a lot of snow,” one person wrote, while another added, “If you want to look cool, overpay for a #Cybertruck. If you want to get things done, get anything else.”

However, some were quick to defend the electric pickup, saying that other vehicles would get stuck in the situation as well.

Chambers, a self-described car enthusiast, shared with Business Insider that the Cybertruck driver identified himself as a Tesla engineer, which could mean that the vehicle was undergoing winter testing, but the company has not confirmed or denied this.

“Software issue caused their traction control not to work,” Chambers said of the stuck Cybertruck.

Chambers also said he was told by the driver that the particular Tesla was a prototype, which doesn’t have towing points or hitches on the body.

So when the Ford helped free it from its snowy prison, it had to pull it from its suspension components.

Tesla delivered its first dozen Cybertrucks last month, but production on the vehicle is still in its early stages, despite being revealed years ago.
