“A True Trump hater,” – that’s what former President Donald Trump called U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan after she reinstated a gag order Sunday.
Chutkan previously ordered Trump from making certain public statements.
His legal team filed a motion to stay and an administrative hold was put on the gag order. With the Sunday opinion and order filing, Chutkan denied the motion and lifted the stay.
On Sunday, Trump posted: “The Corrupt Biden Administration just took away my First Amendment Right To Free Speech. NOT CONSTITUTIONAL! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN…”
Per the Boston Herald, the judge ordered the former president and current 2024 presidential election frontrunner “not to attack federal prosecutors, court staff and potential witnesses involved in the legal proceedings,” related to the case. Trump is facing a mountain of litigation, including four indictments just this year. This particular case is the federal case alleging that Trump conspired to overturn the 2020 election results.
Trump lost the election to current President Joe Biden, who previously served as vice president under President Barack Obama. While he maintains that he lost due to election fraud, Trump has not been able to provide any evidence to back up this claim.
“The Obama appointed Federal Judge in D.C, a TRUE TRUMP HATER, is incapable of giving me a fair trial,” said Trump of Chutkan in a Monday Truth Social post. “Her Hatred of President DONALD J. TRUMP is so great that she has been diagnosed with a major, and incurable, case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!!!”
It’s not the first time Trump has pushed back against a judge this year. In August, Audacy reported that he posted “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!” on Truth Social after U.S. Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya told him not to intimidate witnesses.
He also made comments on social media last week that Chutkan said would have violated the gag order had it not been stayed.
“I don’t think Mark Meadows would lie about the Rigged and Stollen 2020 Presidential Election merely for getting IMMUNITY against Prosecution (PERSECUTION!) by Deranged Prosecutor, Jack Smith. BUT, when you really think about it, after being hounded like a dog for three years, told you’ll be going to jail for the rest of your life, your money and your family will be forever gone, and we’re not at all interested in exposing those that did the RIGGING — If you say BAD THINGS about that terrible “MONSTER,” DONALD J. TRUMP, we won’t put you in prison, you can keep your family and your wealth, and, perhaps, if you can make up some really horrible “STUFF” a[b]out him, we may very well erect a statue of you in the middle of our decaying and now very violent Capital, Washington, D.C. Some people would make that deal, but they are weaklings and cowards, and so bad for the future our Failing Nation. I don’t think that Mark Meadows is one of them, but who really knows? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” Trump said.
According to Chutkan, “the statement singles out a foreseeable witness for purposes of characterizing his potentially unfavorable testimony as a ‘lie,’” which “could readily be interpreted as an attempt to influence or prevent the witness’s participation in this case.”
