PA Department of Health COVID-19 update: March 13

HARRISBURG (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced 2,840 new COVID-19 cases Saturday.

For all of the daily updates, the Department reveals changes in COVID cases up through midnight of each morning.


The latest wave of positive tests brings Pennsylvania to a 964,296 total, going back to when the pandemic was declared in March 2020.

Along with the over 2,800 new cases, the Department also announced there are currently 1,463 patients hospitalized with coronavirus.

And 313 of those patients are in intensive care units (ICU).

The cases and deaths mainly occur within the 65 and older demographic, but a more comprehensive breakdown of the ages can be found on the Department of Health's website.

The statewide positivity rate for March 5 to March 11 stood at 5.7%. According to the Department, 43 new deaths were caused by COVID-19 across the commonwealth.

The Pennsylvania total is now 24,573.
