The Pennsylvania Department of Health terminated its contract with Insight Global, Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam confirmed Thursday.
"We terminated their contract with a 30-day transition time and so that happened earlier today," Beam said at a press conference. "We will have that wrapped up towards the end of June, will be the end of that contract."
Insight Global was hired by the Health Department to do its COVID-19 contact tracing. The company said last month employees stored patient data on unsecured documents, potentially compromising the personal information of over 70,000 Pennsylvanians.
The Health Department initially said they would not renew the contract after it expired in July. Some state officials pushed back saying the contract should be terminated immediately.
Beam did not say why the Health Department seemingly changed its mind.
