PA ranked 6th slowest state to recover from COVID-19 pandemic

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) – Pennsylvania ranks the 6thslowest state to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to WalletHub.

The factors taken into place to determine a state's recovery include the percentage of vaccinated residents, COVID-19 death rate, unemployment rate, and more.


Iowa has seen the best recovery rate coming in the top spot, with Nebraska, Alaska, South Dakota, New Hampshire in the top five.

Rounding out the top ten are Utah at six, Kansas at seven, Connecticut at eight, Arkansas at nine, and Idaho at ten.

Pennsylvania fell at the 46th spot, with only Georgia, Louisiana, Oregon, West Virginia, and Michigan having a worse recovery.

PA has an unemployment rate at 5.8% and around 42% of the population fully vaccinated, having us come in at the 21st spot on vaccine rates and 37th place for unemployment rate now verse pre-COVID rate.

PA score the highest on the list at 16th for its share of the vaccine supply used, and 51st place (District of Columbia included) for total weekly job posting verse pre-COVID-19 levels.

Pennsylvania's death rate from COVID-19 came in at 43rd in the country, and its hospitalization rate in 41st.
