The holiday season is almost here and many will be out shopping for gifts and gatherings. One popular item on shopping lists - alcohol.

Here are some helpful tips from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for shopping safely at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Shop early. The number of shoppers allowed inside a store will continue to be limited to allow for proper social distancing, so shopping early may help you avoid any last-minute delays.

Avoid crowds inside stores by shopping during off-peak hours. The PLCB says mid-morning and early afternoon are good times to shop.

Allow extra time for your shopping trip to a FW&GS location.

Regardless of when you shop at a FW&GS store, all customers are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing while inside. You're also asked to follow directional signage in the store and asked to not touch an item unless you intend to purchase it.

Customers who don't wish to shop inside can utilize contactless curbside pick-up.

Another alternative is to shop online and have your order shipped to your home.

“November and December are typically the busiest months of the year in Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores, so we ask our customers to plan ahead and stay safe when shopping this unique holiday season,” said PLCB Chairman Tim Holden. “We know that wines and spirits are an enjoyable aspect of many holiday celebrations, and we want to make sure our customers and our employees can enjoy a safe, healthy, happy holiday season.”

The first hour each day that a store is open is reserved for customers who are at higher risk for COVID-19. This includes people 65-years-old and older.
