PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) has announced the November schedule of their "Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program."
Throughout the month of November there will be four weeklong appearances of the glass recycling bin across the Pittsburgh area.
The PRC' Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program serves residents in areas that no longer accept glass in their recycling collection.
The PRC is using the traveling big as a way to provide residents with a free solution to recycle their glass.
Since launching the Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program in June, PCR has collected over 58 tons of glass.
"Reasons for recycling glass include the fact that glass can be recycled forever," program coordinator Ashley DiGregorio said. "Recycling glass requires 70 percent less energy than when manufacturing glass from raw materials, and a glass bottle can go from recycling bin back to store shelf in as little as 30 days."
