The surprise snowfall we received yesterday was just a taste of the winter weather that's headed our way over the next several days.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore says it's going to get unseasonably cold:

"We're worried about more lake-effect snow showers coming down the pike with some really cold air towards the weekend, we're going to get into air that is going to be more like January than November," said DeVore. "This is a piece of arctic air that has been brewing because of a weakening in the polar vortex."

Snow showers could fall overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

Lows over the weekend will be in the low 20s with temps struggling to get above 30 on Sunday.

Devore says the snow we got yesterday was not forecast and admitted they got it wrong when large snowflakes fell for several hours on Tuesday

"I think, we weren't thinking it's going to be intense," said DeVore. "We know that in these situations that the amount of it's coming down, how it's coming down can overcome the boundary layer and that's what it did."
