PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Signed to a one-year deal worth under a million dollars late in the offseason, right-handed reliever Justin Lawrence has been outstanding. Lawrence is part of the other Pirates injury notes from Wednesday beyond Jared Jones.

Lawrence hasn’t pitched since April 22 and he was outstanding in 11 games, 11.1 innings, five hits, one run, six walks and 15 strikeouts. The WHIP was 0.97 for the former Rockies reliever. He will receive a PRP injection into his right elbow and see how he responds over the next three weeks with the hope of avoiding surgery.

RHP Johan Oviedo
·     He has thrown four side sessions while being away of the intensity. He is making really good strides.

RHP Dauri Moreta
·     Continues his rehab at AAA without any issues

RHP Colin Holderman
·     He has an inflamed right tendon of the thumb that is ‘very debilitating or anybody who has a career in gripping and throwing the baseball’. Holderman will see a specialist in Arizona next week

LHP Hunter Barco
·     Was examined after coming out of his first AAA start shaking his left arm. He was examined by the team and diagnosed with a mild muscle strain of the left shoulder. He is throwing out to 120 feet and taking it day-to-day. After some flat ground he most likely will return to throwing on a mound soon.

1B Enmanuel Valdez
·     Had surgery for a dislocated left shoulder. It was called a ‘slap repair’ and is expected to return to full competition in six months, meaning his season is over.

INF Nick Gonzales
·     Participated in one game in AAA recovering from a broken ankle and was hit in the hand by a pitch. Tomczyk said the ankle is fine and he is able to grip a bat. He won’t play on Wednesday and be reassessed on Thursday

C/INF Endy Rodriguez
·     No restrictions or issues and is going through rehab in AAA
