Free air no longer being offered at Western PA GetGo stations

Thursday Headlines

Pittsburgh's Headlines: October 22, 2026

With colder temperatures, many drivers are adding air to their tires in the morning this week.

And many going to GetGo to do that are finding out the air is no longer free.

Now there's a $3 charge. The company is replacing the free tire inflators with new equipment and credit card readers.

The parent company of GetGo sent KDKA Radio the following statement:

We appreciate feedback from our customers and understand that air service is valued by many. After testing the change at select locations over the summer, we began transitioning to paid air service in September to coincide with the installation of new, more reliable equipment. We remain focused on delivering a convenient, high-quality experience for our customers.

GetGo has 279 locations in several states. Not all have the new machines, but they will.

GetGo was sold by Giant Eagle to the parent company of Circle K, Couche-Tard, for $1.6 billion in 2025.

The old GetGo free air machines were frequently out of calibration or out of service at many locations.

For those that would rather invest in personal air pump, portable 12v air compressors are available at many auto parts stores and online.

A spokesperson for Sheetz tells KDKA Radio they continue to offer FREE air at their locations.
