KDKA Radio Super 7 Basketball Watch List: Week 12

The WPIAL championships are complete, as 12 teams took home district crowns over three exciting days of basketball at the Petersen Events Center. In those wins, there were a number of strong individual performances.

This season, we will nominate four players (two boys, two girls) to the KDKA Radio Super 7 Basketball Watch List each week. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will name one player from each WPIAL boys and girls classification, plus the Pittsburgh City League, as the prestigious KDKA Radio Super 7 Player of the Year Award winner.

Here is a look at the four players who had big weeks during Week 12 of our coverage.

Jasmine Timmerson, North Allegheny

The Pitt recruit has been a strong passer of the basketball for years, but took over Friday night as a scorer in North Allegheny' 71-45 win over Upper St. Clair.

Timmerson dropped in 30 points and added six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a blocked shot as the Tigers ran away with the WPIAL 6A title.

She also was 11 of 12 from the foul line in the win, and shot 9 of 18 from the field.

Cameron Lindsey, Aliquippa

In one of the most physically impressive performances of the weekend, Lindsey became a dominant force on the boards to carry the Quips to a 13th district title.

Lindsey scored 19 points and snagged 17 rebounds — including 13 on the offensive end — while also blocking three shots and ripping away a pair of steals in the 52-40 victory over Northgate.

The junior is one of the WPIAL's best football recruits, with offers from Pitt, Cincinnati, WVU, Penn State, Syracuse, Maryland and more.

Ava Leroux, South Fayette

At 6-foot-4, Leroux is typically the tallest player on the floor, and she used her height to help lift the Lions to another title, topping Oakland Catholic 64-49.

The Elon commit scored 17 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and added an assist, a steal and a block, while shooting 7 of 8 at the line.

Leroux, a senior, is the daughter of former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Francois Leroux.

Bryce Robson, Deer Lakes

For the first time ever, Deer Lakes took home a WPIAL boys basketball title Friday evening.

The Lancers dropped OLSH, 61-60, in a thriller that came down to the final buzzer.

Robson scored 18 points, hauled in six rebounds, while dishing out three assists in the win.

The senior scored over 18 points per game this season.
