We enter the final three weeks of the 2025 high school football regular season with plenty of intrigue. This past week brought thrilling finishes and a record-breaking moment to the gridiron in Western Pennsylvania.
This season, KDKA Radio will again nominate players each week to join the KDKA Radio Super 7 Awards watch list. Every Monday, a new crop of players will be unveiled based on their efforts that previous Friday night. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will announce the winners of the award for each WPIAL classification, as well as the Pittsburgh City League.
Here are the top performances from Week 6:
Harran Zureikat, Fox Chapel
It isn’t typical that a kicker finds his way onto the Super 7 Watch List. But Zureikat is no typical kicker.
The Fox Chapel senior booted a WPIAL record 57-yard field goal to break the districts mark by two yards in a 21-10 loss to Franklin Regional Friday night.
A week earlier, the Georgia commit nailed a 54-yard field goal, coming up a yard shy of tying the record.
Zureikat is the second-ranked kicker in the Class of 2026, per 247Sports.
Scoop Smith, Woodland Hills
Smith has been a one-man highlight reel all season, with big special teams returns and explosive plays in both the run and pass games for the Wolverines.
This past Friday, he showed his capability as a possession receiver, hauling in 11 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns in a 50-14 win over Armstrong.
Committed to Miami (OH), Smith is regarded as one of the WPIAL’s most dynamic athletes in recent memory. He is a top guard in the district in basketball and is a champion sprinter in track, as well.
Woodland Hills is now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in 5A's Big East Conference.
Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg, Highlands
Highlands entered Week 6 looking to score an upset over previously unbeaten Freeport. Owen-Cratsenberg made sure it happened.
For a second straight week, the sophomore tailback racked up four touchdowns on the ground, piling up 235 yards in a 28-27 upset of the Yellowjackets.
Owen-Cratsenberg made his biggest play of the night on special teams, however, blocking a game-tying extra point attempt in overtime to secure the victory.
Highlands is now 4-3 on the year and in second place in the Allegheny 7 Conference.
Luke Miranda, Chartiers Valley
The surprise team of the 2025 WPIAL season has been Chartiers Valley. And gutsiness has been a big reason why.
On Friday, the Colts won a game on a last-second touchdown pass and two-point conversion pass for the second time this season, topping Belle Vernon 36-35.
Miranda passed for 222 yards and four scores in the victory.
A year after finishing with a 3-6 record, Chartiers Valley is now 6-1 and 2-0 in Big Six Conference play. The Colts also stunned West Allegheny in overtime earlier this season in a similar manner.
The high school football season continues this Friday with broadcast coverage of Upper St. Clair vs Bethel Park. Pregame coverage begins a 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m. on 100.1 FM and AM-1020 KDKA.
