The WPIAL football regular season came to a close this week, as did the Pittsburgh City League postseason. With such meaningful games on the schedule, four players emerged with dazzling performances in victory.

This season, KDKA Radio will again nominate players each week to join the KDKA Radio Super 7 Awards watch list. Every Monday, a new crop of players will be unveiled based on their efforts that previous Friday night. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will announce the winners of the award for each WPIAL classification, as well as the Pittsburgh City League.

Here are the top performances from Week 9:

Joey Felitsky, North Catholic

Needing a win to wrap up a playoff spot, North Catholic quarterback Joey Felitsky did what he’s done all season.

The senior quarterback dominated through the air, passing for 332 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-36 win over Hopewell.

Felitsky is the WPIAL’s leading passer entering the postseason, racking up 2,437 yards and 33 touchdowns in the regular season.

Felitsky has an offer from John Carroll. The Trojans will meet Burrell Friday in the Class 3A first round.

Gabe Hein, Mars

Hein has been one of the WPIAL’s most explosive pass catchers all season, and saved one of his best games for Week 9.

The senior caught 11 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns, while also returning a punt for another score in a 42-7 runaway win over Indiana.

Hein is committed to play at Sacred Heart.

The Fightin’ Planets will travel to Thomas Jefferson Friday for the WPIAL 4A quarterfinals — a game that will air on KDKA Radio.

Dai’Mere Adair, University Prep

Westinghouse has controlled the Pittsburgh City League over the last three years, running away with a trio of District 8 titles. But that run came to an end Saturday.

Adair passed for 229 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-0 shutout of the Bulldogs.

The City League title is the first for University Prep since 2018.

USO will face Clearfield Friday in the PIAA playoffs.

Antonio Perkins, Burrell

One of the most impressive individual performances of the entire 2025 season came Friday at Burrell, as Perkins was a one-man wrecking crew for the Bucs.

Perkins set a school record with 360 rushing yards, as well as five touchdowns on the ground as Burrell beat Deer Lakes 48-41 to wrap up a spot in the Class 3A postseason.

Additionally, Perkins returned a punt and a kick for scores and had an interception on defense.

Only a sophomore, Perkins — who plays quarterback — has rushed for 1,652 yards and 25 touchdowns, while passing for another 736 yards.

The Bucs face North Catholic Friday in the Class 3A first round.

The 2025 high school football season continues this weekend with broadcast coverage of Thomas Jefferson vs Mars on KDKA Radio.
