There is some potentially bad news for a Pirates pitching prospect.

93.7 The Fan’s Pirates insider Jason Mackey reports in the Post-Gazette that right-handed pitcher Miguel Yajure has soreness in this pitching elbow/forearm.

Mackey says that the issue will force him to miss his next start for Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Pirates hope that rest will allow Yajure to recover.

Any injury near the elbow area raises concerns of a possible Tommy John surgery, which takes a year or longer to recover from.

Yajure was a key piece in the trade that sent Jameson Taillon to the New York Yankees, so hopefully his injury isn’t anything major.

The 23-year-old out of Venezuela has made two starts for the Pirates this season with an ERA of 3.86 over 9.1 innings pitched.

He’s given up five hits, four earned runs and two home runs striking out eight and walking three.
