PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He rooted for the Steelers growing up, beat them in the Super Bowl and Wednesday interviewed to be the Steelers head coach.
Steelers confirm an in-person interview with Mike McCarthy.
The 62-year-old went 49-35 during five years with the Cowboys, 1-3 in the postseason. For 13 years as the Packers head coach, McCarthy was 125-77-2 in the regular season and 10-8 in the playoffs including the victory in Super Bowl XLV.
McCarthy has coached at home before, he was a graduate student and then wide receivers coach at Pitt under Paul Hackett in the late 80s and early 90s.
He follows the in-person interview with Vikings defensive coordinator, former Miami head coach and one-year Steelers assistant Brian Flores.
