The Pirates have added another item to their home run celebration.

You already know about the sword. If not, the story is in the article below.

The Pirates have also added a “home run jacket”, which debuted on Sunday and was worn by both Connor Joe and Rodolfo Castro after back-to-back jacks.

The idea game from the Toronto Blue Jays, who started the tradition on wearing a jacket after a home run in 2021.

According to Sportsnet, someone from the Pirates got the Blue Jays’ blessing during Spring Training to use a jacket.

The jacket has the words “La Gente Del Barrio” or “The people of the neighborhood” in English on the front and the back features a big Pirates logo with the numbers of every retired player’s number, including Jackie Robinson.

"La Gente Del Barrio" was also on the Blue Jays' jacket.

But, the jacket isn’t the end of the story.

A plush Pikachu (from Pokémon) wearing a Pirates shirt, is given to the player of the game after each win.

Yes, it’s still early, but the Pirates are 10 games over .500 for the first time in eight seasons and are having fun, so maybe their sword, jacket and Pikachu are working!
