Iowa State Forward Blake Hinson tells Chris Peak of Panther-Lair.com that he “intends to transfer to Pitt.”

Hinson spent the weekend in Pittsburgh meeting with Panther coaches.

Hinson started his college career at Ole Miss, starting in 58 games, averaging 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds his first year and 10.1 points and 4.6 rebounds his sophomore year.

He then transferred to Iowa State but didn’t play in 2020 due to injury and entered the transfer portal before the 2021 season.

Peak says that Hinson is a versatile player could can play “either forward position.”

“I think they like my experience,” Hinson told Panthers-Lair. “They like the fact that I’m a team guy that fits their system.”

Hinson is the second player to transfer to Pitt for next season. Earlier this month, Midland native and Lincoln Park grad Nelly Cumming announced he was leaving Colgate to play for Pitt.

Pitt now has five open scholarships for next season.
