Steelers owner Art Rooney II isn’t fazed by a recent NFLPA survey that ranked him close to the bottom of a recent survey.
Rooney II got an ‘F’ and only Washington, which had several issues and their owner had to sell, was worse.
The players cited a failure of Rooney to invest in facilities as a major reason he was crushed in this survey.
Out of 32 teams in the NFL, the Steelers ranked 28th or worse in several other categories.
Rooney spoke at the NFL owner’s meeting in Orlando on Tuesday and said he like to get his feedback by speaking to the player themselves.
“I’m not even sure where that (survey) comes from. It doesn’t get presented to us. It gets presented to the media,” said Rooney, per Steelers Now reporter Alan Saunders.
Rooney also called the survey a “media opportunity” for the NFLPA.
He added they are always looking at improving their facilities.
The primary concerns expressed by the players revolve around the South Side, UPMC Rooney practice facility.
Opening in 2000, a 15-year lease extension was signed in 2015.
To be fair to the Steelers, the land is at a premium.
To one side are train tracks, to the other is the river, meaning there isn’t much room for expansion.
