Steelers bring 13 back from camp to practice squad

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers have the bulk of its practice squad although with a few spots still to add. GM Omar Khan announced the initial names on Monday, all were a part of training camp.

Running backs

• Travis Homer-veteran, special teams contributor on all units
• Lew Nichols-practice squad last year, solid camp

Wide receiver

• Max Hurleman-spent 2025 on Steelers practice squad
• Brandon Smith-impressive days at camp, played with Rodgers in NY

Tight end

• Lake McRee-had splash play on the sidelines with Drew Allar

Offensive line

• G Steven Jones-worked as the backup guard in camp before injury
• OT Doug Nester-spent 2025 on Steelers practice squad

Defensive line

• Esezi Otomewo-veteran, played 12 games for Steelers in 2025
• Kyler Baugh-spent 2025 on Steelers practice squad

Defensive backs

• CB Doneiko Slaughter-showed up in coverage at times during camp
• S Sebastian Castro-3 times with Steelers, undrafted free agent in 2025

Linebackers

• Jacoby Windman-25, with Carolina first two NFL seasons
• Julius Welschof-outside linebacker gets international exemption

Safety is likely an area where the Steelers could add along with offensive tackle.
