They've ranked the best players at each position and now Pro Football Focus is ranking the 50 best players in the NFL, no matter what position they play.
PFF has been released 10 players a day leading up to Friday when the top 10 will be revealed.
Just barely missing the top 10 is Steelers linebacker T.J.
Watt.
Watt, who arguably could've been the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, if not for Aaron Donald, has been one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL over the past few seasons.
PFF says that Watt has "earned the highest overall PFF grade among all edge rushers (92.6) as well as the best pass-rushing grade (92.2)."
Watt led the league in sacks last year with 15, He had a combined 53 sacks last season along with 23 tackles for loss and 41 quarterback hits.
There are no signs that Watt will slow down in 2021, barring an injury.
The other Steeler to make the list so far is defensive end Cam Heyward, coming in at 31.
"The later into his career he gets, the better Heyward seems to play. His best four seasons in terms of PFF grade have been his most recent four seasons, and Aaron Donald is the only interior lineman who has a higher overall PFF grade since 2019," says PFF.
Again, the only thing holding Heyward back from being the best interior defensive player in the league is Donald.
As PFF says "Heyward has a good case to be seen as the best interior defender not named Donald in the NFL — and that's an impressive achievement."
Heyward recorded 4 sacks last season with 54 total tackles, three passes defended and also recorded the first interception of his career.
With Watt coming in at 11, it's hard to imagine another Steelers player will rank higher than him when the list is completed.
