PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A Pick 6 that wowed the league to go with a couple of sacks and three tackles for loss against Atlanta earned Steelers outside linebacker TJ Watt is the NFL Defensive Player of the Week.
It is the ninth time in his career, and first since 2024, that Watt won the Defensive Player of the Week award. Others who have done it nine time—Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith and Chris Doleman—all in the Hall of Fame.
“Just watching the highlights over the years, watching him in practice, getting to know him as a person, as a football player, I mean, pretty much probably could do whatever he wants to, what he puts his mind to on the football field,” said Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. “That's why he is who he is.”
To me it's a great football play (speaking of the 35-yard interception for touchdown. For us, impossible, there’s no way I'm doing that. No way I
could have done that even back at Crosby High School. It's not getting done, period. But for him, he's different. That's why I love it at this level, you get to coach the dudes. That's what I tell my buddies in college. Don't you want to coach the dudes?”
