PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Leading the NFL in sacks, Steelers linebacker TJ Watt named the AFC Defensive Player of the Year Thursday.
In the 51-year history of the award, designated by the Committee of 101, never have siblings won the same player-of-the-year award until now as TJ joins brother, Texans DE JJ Watt.
Watt was previously named the Steelers MVP as voted by his teammates.
Along with the 15 sacks, Watt also had 23 tackles for loss and 41 quarterback hits. He was the seventh player in league history to lead the NFL in sacks, TFL and QB hits in the same season. Four times that player also won NFL Defensive Player of the Year. JJ Watt in 2012, 2014 and 2015 and Aaron Donald in 2018.
