Long Beach Virtual MLK Day of Celebration and Service. This year's Long Beach MLK Day of Service will feature 3 components where residents can engage in service, dialogue, and activities. The online program will feature inspiring musicians, artists, words and messages from civic and community leaders honoring the legacy of Dr. King. Monday, January 18 10am – 1pm
MLK Day Read & Feed Drive-Thru. Monday Jan 18th from 8am-11am. This is a safe "Grab & Go" Drive up event! Registration is Mandatory and limited; first come first serve. No walk-ups allowed. One food box and one book per registration.
Eco Sundays Beach Cleanup Please join Eco Sundays on a special MLK Day of Service Monday for a beach cleanup at the southern end of Will Rogers State Beach. Monday, January 18th 12 – 2pm. Eco Sundays is a volunteer organization headed by a ten-year-old student with a focus on ways to address climate change. Look for our signs. Masks and distancing required.
Join Blue Star Families for MLK National Day of Service by celebrating our military. Blue Star Families is collecting cards in support of service members and military families. These cards will be distributed to patients at military hospitals. Register today to receive information on where to send the cards once you write them. Activities include: A Virtual March on Washington in Minecraft and Virtual workshops on Criminal Justice, Homelessness and Food Insecurities.

UCLA Volunteer Center - Virtual Letter Writing Event for Healthcare Staff. Tuesday , Jan. 19, (1:00 pm – 2:00 pm PST) – Letters of Appreciation for Healthcare Staff. While most of us are trying our best to stay at home and practice social distancing measures, healthcare workers around the world are putting their own lives at risk to keep us safe. It is not only the doctors and nurses but also the therapists, technologists, those who make sure rooms and equipment are disinfected, and social workers who are doing their best to keep us safe. Please join us for this One Bus, One Cause as we will come together virtually to create letters or artwork that will be sent to healthcare staff to show our appreciation for their crucial work during this time.
