Auction of Betty White's memorabilia brings in $4M

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A collection of memorabilia from the estate of Betty White sold for a whopping $4 million over the weekend in Beverly Hills, exceeding the original estimate of $400,000 to $600,000.

The top-selling item was White's director's chair from the "Golden Girls" TV set, which sold for $76,800 -- 76 times the original estimate, according to Julien's Auctions.

Teleplay scripts from the pilot and final episode of the Golden Girls sold for $57,600 and $51,200 respectively, according to Julien's..

A 1950s oil painting of White sold for $43,750 and a 1986 lavender dress worn by White on the "Golden Girls" sold for $32,000, 53  times its original estimate, according to Julien's.

White's sapphire-and-diamond ring worn on the "Mary Tyler Moore" show sold for $32,000, 35 times its original estimate.

And her gold-and-diamond wedding ring, worn during her marriage to Allen Ludden brought in $25,000.
