Just days after 19 children and two teachers were killed in an elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Donald Trump Jr. posted a video to his Facebook page on Saturday arguing that guns aren't to blame for the shooting.

The video starts with Trump Jr. reacting to a New York Post article, in which Adriana Martinez, the mother of 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos, asked for forgiveness for her son.

"He had his reasons for doing what he did. Please don't judge him. I only want the innocent children who died to forgive me," Martinez said. "Forgive me, forgive my son. I know he had his reasons."

Trump Jr. questioned the "reasons" for the shooting, and placed blame on Martinez for her son's actions. He added that our society has allowed for people to make excuses for their actions.

"He had his reasons? Maybe you're the reason," Trump Jr. said. "But you know, we're not supposed to judge this piece of crap who shot and killed 19 kids. He had his reasons right? Screw you. This is so much of the problem in our society, there's always an excuse. There's no accountability ever. We're not allowed to actually say anything about it."

Trump Jr. went on to suggest that guns aren't to blame, and Ramos could have carried out the attack with a bat or another weapon.

"It's the gun, it's not the sociopath wielding it, folks," Trump Jr. said sarcastically. "If it wasn't for the gun, this kid would be a well-adjusted, reasonable individual, he'd be a wonderful human being, right? He wouldn't have done the exact same thing with a bat, or a bomb, or some sort of improvised device, or a machete? He's a great kid, don't judge him."

Trump Jr. then added that "we can't acknowledge what the actual causes are" for the shooter's motives, and then pointed to the "bigger" problems at hand.

"Our own stupidity, apathy, wokeness, laziness, that's the problem, folks," Trump Jr. said. "And until we fix that, the rest is just talk and crap. They'll blame it on the gun. They'll blame it on everything, because no one can possibly take responsibility for their actions.

"No one can admit that someone is actually a piece of garbage and screwed up. Right, we can't have that, that would be mean. That's where we are, folks, that's where we are."

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said that Ramos had no known mental health history, according to CNN. People who knew Ramos spoke to CNN, and "described him as a loner with little if any social life."
