Police responded to a residence on West Cypress Road just before 12:40 a.m.

The man was found in the driveway with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

Officers detained two women and one man who were inside the residence.

Detectives learned the 74-year-old residence an elder abuse restraining order against the man.

There had also been a history of physical violence between the two and that when another act of physical violence occurred; the woman shot the man in self-defense.

“Due to this being a self-defense shooting, and absent any other crimes committed by the female, she was not booked,” officials said.

The man’s identity has not been released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
