Redondo Union High School reopened on Thursday after two students were arrested for bringing guns to the campus.

Metal detectors were placed at the school. School superintendent Dr. Nicole Wesley said on Wednesday that the metal detectors would be located at “three specific entry points.” There will also be an increase in security presence on campus.

The security measures will be in effect until the school goes on holiday break.

One parent told KNX News’ Jon Baird he thinks the metal detectors are a great idea.

“At least for now to kind of calm everything down because honestly, my daughter is a little bit scared as well,” he said.

The incidents occurred on Monday and Tuesday. The suspects in both incidents were 10th graders and were arrested. In both incidents, the school went into lockdown.

The school was closed on Wednesday as police and K-9s conducted a search on campus for any weapons.
