DENVER (KNX) — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is being traded to the Denver Broncos in one of the biggest blockbuster trades in recent NFL history, sources told ESPN.

The trade, which comes after weeks of negotiations, is pending a physical and Wilson’s approval, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.

The Super Bowl-winning quarterback has played with the Seahawks for nearly a decade.

“The trade gives Denver the quarterback it has sought since Peyton Manning retired and it gives Seattle a foundation on which to rebuild without the quarterback who led the Seahawks to their only Super Bowl title,” Schefter said.

Schefter added that Denver acquiring Wilson has nothing to do with Tuesday’s announcement about Aaron Rodgers' return to Green Bay.

Denver general manager George Paton initiated trade talks with Seattle for Wilson at least two weeks ago, sources told Schefter.
