The shelter-in-place order issued in parts Boyle Heights tied to the massive warehouse fire was lifted on Friday morning.
The order, issued on Thursday for areas around the Lineage cold storage facility, was only supposed to last an hour; however, it continued into Friday morning while firefighters tackled the smoke that was still coming out of the building.
Firefighters are still at the warehouse working through stubborn hot spots that continue to flare up inside the building.
While it's safe for residents to go out in the neighborhood, officials say the smoke advisory remains in effect, with smoke potentially affecting people with respiratory or other sensitive health conditions.
The fire inside the cold storage facility happened on Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews dealt with rooftop solar panels, an ammonia leak, and even brought in water-dropping helicopters to help contain the blaze.
Officials said the hazmat concerns that complicated the fire early on have largely been resolved.
