The record-setting storm in Southern California has caused some areas like the Hollywood Hills to be at high risk for mudslides.
On Sunday night, debris flow damaged two homes in a Studio City neighborhood, which prompted 16 people to be evacuated.
On Monday, five homes in the Beverly Crest area were also damaged due to debris flow.
Erik Scott, a fire captain with the Los Angeles Fire Department, told KNX News’ Jon, the department has been tallying the mudslides.
“Three-hundred and seven mudslides, but that's going to be updated this morning as the sun comes up and we get eyes on [it],” he said.
He added that 35 buildings need to be inspected because of significant damage and that five of those buildings have been red-tagged while seven are yellow-tagged.
Todd Hall, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told KNX News’ Jon Baird the reason why these areas were hit hard.
“This is because we actually had so much rain in a short amount of time,” he said.
As of 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, a flash flood warning continued for Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
