LOS ANGELES (KNX) — UCLA is set to ease masking and COVID-19 testing requirements by spring quarter, university officials said Friday, adding that the changes would go into effect by April 11 for all who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
"As we approach the end of winter quarter and look ahead to spring break and the upcoming academic quarter, we do so with excitement and anticipation of the opportunity to relax some campus COVID-19 requirements," UCLA said in a statement.

The university said that the eased restrictions come as a result of the improving health conditions on campus and in Los Angeles County as a whole.
"Declining COVID-19 case rates led to an easing of mitigation protocols by L.A. County and the state of California in recent weeks, and UCLA is now preparing for the same," the university continued.
"It is important that we all acknowledge and respect different perspectives and work together as a community to help everyone feel as comfortable as possible."
Even as the university prepares to ease restrictions, it is encouraging those who wish to continue masking to do so — and officials ask that others respect their decision to continue taking precautions.
Officials also noted that, as transmission continues, it will still be recommended for all to continue wearing face coverings indoors — especially in clowded classrooms and at other large gatherings.
To help students and staff better understand the changes that are to come, the university will hold two virtual town halls this month. The dates and times are listed below.
