2021 NFL Draft: Chiefs select Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey with 63rd pick

(610 Sports) -- When Chiefs GM Brett Veach traded the team's first-round pick to acquire Orlando Brown Jr., it put the Chiefs in a position to draft the best available players with their two picks in a pocket near the end of the second round. Veach did just that in acquiring ultra-productive linebacker Nick Bolton with the 58th pick, followed by University of Oklahoma offensive lineman Creed Humphrey with the 63rd pick.

With the selection of Humphrey, the Chiefs continue their overhaul of the offensive line in order to protect their rather large investment in quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Considered one of the top two centers in this year's draft by most draft pundits, Humphrey possesses great core strength, strong hands and undeniably strong leadership. While his short arm length is a bit of a concern, the Big-12's offensive lineman of the year didn't allow a sack in 401 drop backs this past season, putting some of those worries to rest.

The Chiefs don't possess a third round pick but will be back on the clock in round 4.
