We all know what happened in March. The pandemic began. For sports fans and athletes, spring training shut down, tournaments were canceled, and seasons were abruptly put on pause. Now we are in June. NASCAR and golf were the first to come back. Tennis shortly followed and the MLB just announced that they will be returning for a 60 game season with opening day on July 24th.

But what about the sports that go well into fall and winter when a second wave of coronavirus is expected to happen? College administrators, professional team owners, and coaches on all levels across the country are monitoring coronavirus numbers and advice from medical professionals. For USC fans and athletes, a glimmer of hope has been offered. Trojan athletes from 6 sports are allowed to return to campus for voluntary workouts on the practice fields and workout facilities. This includes men's and women's basketball and yes, football. All returning players will undergo physicals and weekly COVID-19 testing. This is certainly not confirmation that college football will happen in 2020 without complications, but it does give us reason to continue keeping our fingers crossed.
