Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town has written her first children's book!
Based on her real-life story of struggling to conceive her second child and decision to adopt, "A Dolly For Christmas" is inspired by Kimberly's eldest daughter Daisy's letters to Santa asking for a sibling...until the family surprised her by bringing home their new baby girl, Dolly, just days before Christmas!
"I just want people to be hopeful and to know that if they're in the middle of a struggle, they are not alone," Kimberly told PEOPLE. "We walked those same roads, and they are very, very difficult. But, in the end, there is restoration and there are children who are waiting for them."
Kimberly is no stranger to writing books; she's previously authored "Oh Gussie!: Cooking and Visiting in Kimberly's Southern Kitchen." "A Dolly for Christmas" is available at all major retailers now.
