Ashley Monroe diagnosed with blood cancer
Singer-songwriter Ashley Monroe is keeping her chin up, despite a diagnosis of blood cancer.
The Pistol Annies member and writer behind Jason Aldean's "The Truth" revealed on social media that she'll start chemo tomorrow for a cancer called Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia, which is causing her severe anemia.
Even so, Ashley's practicing an attitude of gratitude, noting that there is treatment, that this is manageable, and that she is surrounded by friends and family who love her, including her almost-four-year-old son Dalton William Danks and her husband John Danks.
In addition to her own singles, Ashley has had a hand in writing "Flat on the Floor," recorded by Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert's "Heart Like Mine." She was also featured as a vocalist on Blake Shelton's "Lonely Tonight."
