The season 2 finale of "Leverage: Redemption" is now out on
Amazon Freevee, and Christian Kane, who plays the role of Eliot Spencer on the show says the thing to pay attention to is the relationships, particularly between his character and that of Sophie Devereaux, played by Gina Bellman.
"We see right through each other, and we realize that stuff's going on," Christian reveals about their characters. "She helped me in an earlier episode when I finally meet my dad, played by the beautiful Keith David. I asked him to come play my dad, and he did, which was an honor. And some of the stuff that I actually saw coming true actually does come true, and I have to help Gina's character through it, as she helped me through some stuff."
"I'm from that old Garth Brooks school or way of thinking. This is not verbatim, but he said something like, 'No matter where you were, no matter if you had a front row ticket, no matter if you had a backstage pass, he said, I'm still the one having the most fun,' and that's why Garth has so many fans, and that's why you want to go see Garth Brooks play, because he's still the one having the most fun.
"I met him," Christian continues, "And I told him that story, and that was really fun for me to be able to say that to one of your idols, but that's the thing - we're still having the most fun, and I think that that bleeds out into the living room and hits you square in the face as you're sitting on the couch, and you're gonna have fun, and that's why 'Leverage' has been on as long as it has and that's why we have these undying fans that we have."
Christian has also fronted a country-rock band called Kane, which got some airplay on K-Frog, and earned him a residency at the Viper Room in West Hollywood, but lately, his music career has had to take a backseat while he focuses on acting. He shared that he spent five months in New Orleans filming the latest season of "Leverage: Redemption," then almost immediately, another five months in the Philippines filming another show on Amazon Freevee, "Almost Paradise," in which he plays an ex-DEA Agent, but who gets sucked back into the business. However, he's hoping to do a couple of shows in Europe in the next month or two.
Meanwhile, he also shared what's the worst injury he's received while doing a stunt on set, as well as his go-to meal to make when he's trying to impress someone, and the music he's really digging at the moment. Check out the full interview here!
