I guess you could say it's a family tradition.
Singer-songwriter Sam Williams, son of Hank Williams, Jr. and grandson of Hank Williams, Sr., has signed a major label record deal with Universal Music Group Nashville. His project "Glasshouse Children" is expected to drop later this summer.
"I promise to always be myself and never manufacture something false in my music. I never tried to be like my family, never tried to follow anyone else's path, never tried to shop to record labels, and eventually it worked out for the absolute best.
"Sam's talent is timeless and boundless," noted UMG Nashville President Cindy Mabe. "He has such an incredible way of communicating and emotes as if he's channeling feelings from another place; somewhere deep inside himself.
"His powerful, soulful vocals combine with his introspective storytelling to fully immerse you into Sam's own life making you feel everything he feels. He's such a special talent and I believe Sam's music will help lead country music into its next evolution."
Sam isn't the only grandchild of Hank, Sr., to pursue music. His half-brother Hank Williams III has a loyal fan base who follows his love of traditional country and metal, while his half-sister Holly Williams has a warm Americana sound to her music. She's also the writer of Terri Clark's new single, "The Highway."
