A man in California is doing his part to help support his favorite local business by spending 24 hours sitting in a giant tub of bean dip, clothes and all.
Hunter Ray Barker recently went viral for his wild efforts to save his favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Toros, after he heard the restaurant hit a hard time during the coronavirus pandemic, Fox News reported.
“We have a golden opportunity to grab the bull by the horns and support local businesses in a big, explosive way because why not?" said Barker.
The owner of the LA restaurant, Nicolas Montano, was stunned by the idea. “I was like ‘Are you sure? Are you sure you want to do this?’” Montano said. “And he goes, ‘Yeah, I think it would be fun and it’s something I want to help the business.’”
Barker sat in the giant tub of beans while wearing a shirt with the restaurant’s logo on it, and also got a tattoo of the logo while he bathed in the dip.
“The big thing that people asked was ‘What are you going to do when it comes to going to the restroom?’” Barker recalled while soaking in his original bean dip recipe.
“I do have a funnel that’s connected to me right now so any time I do have to go No. 1, that is connected to a bag that’s attached to my body. For No. 2, that is a different story. We will just have to wait and see.”
To bring attention to the local establishment and encourage new customers, Barker also had a drawing for a $200 gift certificate for the restaurant, and set up deals and discounts on his website.
Barker is a life-long fan of the establishment, and he often visited for family celebrations. He claimed it was his "favorite restaurant in the world."
Los Toros was first founded in 1967.
