Years you worked at KGON: Interned in 1977, on air 1978-~1989. 7pm-Midnight. Left and was asked to come back, weekends and weekday "fill-in", but they asked that I change my name as it was too associated with the hard rock we were doing + "schmidt sounded too much like "Shit". Duh that was the entire premise. Picked my son's names - Chris + Adam = Chris Adams. Everybody knew it was Schmidt in yer Ear, though. Fooled no one.
What did you do here? On-Air Spreadin' the Magical Vibe!
Favorite KGON Event? Too many to list or remember. Rocksox softball against the Lifers inside the state pen, but there were tons of great times, some that can't be shared without incriminating a lotta people!
Favorite KGON memory? Getting hired from being an intern. Working with some amazing and now legendary pro's who are like family to me today, at least those still with us - Iris, Mike Turner, Chris Burns, Gloria Johnson, Dick Sheetz, Marty Party, Bob Ancheta, Inessa Anderson. First and only radio gig I ever had. Interviewed a lot of rock greats but the only one I was nervous interviewing was The Doobie Brothers! Fanboy of theirs since I was about 15.
