Many of us know firsthand what it's like to fall on hard times, and ROOTS Young Adult Shelter in the University District is committed to helping young adults get back on their feet.
One of the shelter's programs offers a creative outlet for artists and musicians experiencing homelessness in Seattle. Over the past year, these artists have gathered once a week to work on a variety of projects including knitting, sculpting, jewelry-making, painting and drawing.
These artists will be going public with their work for the first time on Sunday, June 23rd at The Vera Project in Seattle, and all artwork will be for sale with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artists.
There will also be live music performed throughout the event:
1:15pm-1:45pm Dancer/singer Arya will perform in the gallery space2:00pm-2:45pm Zapp cover band POWW will perform in the showroom3:00pm-3:30pm Singer/songwriter C will perform in the gallery space3:45pm-4:15pm Singer/songwriter Blondie Slaughter will perform in the gallery space
Donations will also be accepted at the event and will be equally divided to further the growth of this art class, to support The Vera Project and to compensate the musicians for their performances.
We hope you can be there for this important cause, Rockaholics! Your support will mean a great deal, but if you can't physically be there, consider making a donation to ROOTS Young Adult Shelter.
Happy Adventuring,
Taryn Daly
