Everyone survive the 'heat dome'? Hint; if you're reading this, you survived. I, for one, didn't mind it TOO much. I didn't love it, but it wasn't the worst I've experienced. My kids, on the other hand, they didn't know what to make of it.
Like most people in the area, we don't have air conditioning. We DO have a basement and that proved to be our savior. The upstairs of my home reached and stayed an uncomfortable 91 degrees. 91 degrees outside doesn't bother me... 91 degrees in my living room sucked.
The basement, however, stayed at about 75 degrees and it became our sanctuary. Kids slept in a tent while I slept on a sofa... along with the dog.
The kids, my daughter in particular, asked if "we would ever live upstairs again?" She has a natural flair for the dramatic.
Anyway, as of last night, the family officially moved back upstairs and how we did rejoice.
All is well.
