Acclaimed actor Max von Sydow has died at 90.
The star passed away on Sunday, March 8, reports Fox News. The news was confirmed to the outlet by von Sydow’s representatives, although the cause of death was not disclosed.
“It is with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max von Sydow,” read a statement from the actor’s wife, Catherine Brelet von Sydow.

The Swedish actor is known for roles in classic projects including “The Exorcist,” where he played Father Merrin, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” where he played Lor San Tekka, and “Games of Thrones,” where he portrayed the Three-eyed Raven.
In addition to working frequently in television and film, the actor has lent his talents for sagely, wise voiceovers in video games such as “The Elder Scrolls.”
The veteran’s actor’s industry roots are deep, reaching back to collaborations with legendary film director Ingmar Bergman. Von Sydow appeared in 11 of Bergman’s films, including the canonical “The Seventh Seal.”

Von Sydow is survived by Catherine, his wife of 23 years, and his four children.
