ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Everyone from local to federal officials have warned for days, if not weeks, that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 would increase -- in some cases exponentially -- once more testing was made available.As more tests become available from both the government and private labs, that appears to be happening.Illinois reported 296 more cases and three deaths on Sunday.
Related: Illinois reports 296 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more deathsSt. Louis City reports there are now 14 people in the city with a confirmed coronavirus infection, they're still awaiting results on 17 tests and 82 people are being monitored.The numbers are a bit higher in St. Louis County with 55 people now confirmed to have COVID-19. The additional 38 cases announced Sunday include people in their 20s and 30s who got it despite not having traveled and not having any known contact with someone who'd already been diagnosed.
